LARGE SCALE PRINTING FOR THE COMPOSITES INDUSTRY

CraftLabs offers cutting-edge large-scale 3D printing services tailored specifically for the Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) sector, powered by the revolutionary MASSIVIT 10000-G technology. This technology enables unparalleled speed in large-scale 3D printing, coupled with the utilisation of high-performance printing materials, including isotropic thermoset casting materials. Our capabilities extend to the production of bespoke components or tooling, all from a single machine.

We can deliver ground-breaking solutions in additive manufactured components and tooling. Our expertise ensures the swift production of complex, bespoke moulds within days rather than weeks.

Traditionally, the creation of large tools and moulds for fibre-reinforced composite parts has been marred by high costs, slow production rates, wastage and reliance on manual labour.

However with CraftLabs, clients benefit from:

✔ An 80% reduction in mould production time

✔ Streamlined production processes leading to higher yields

✔ Up to 90% reduction in manual labour requirements

✔ Substantial decrease in tooling costs

✔ Simplified supply chains and reduced inventory needs

✔ Minimised waste of costly materials

WAAM

CraftLabs proudly offers Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) as one of our specialised services, revolutionising metal part production with cutting-edge technology. WAAM, a variation of Direct Energy Deposition, harnesses arc welding to 3D print metal components, distinguishing itself from traditional metal powder additive manufacturing methods.

By melting metal wire through an electric arc, WAAM delivers a host of benefits that streamline production processes and enhance efficiency. Clients partnering with CraftLabs for WAAM can expect:

✔ Cost Reductions

✔ Waste Reduction

✔ Simplified Supply Chains

✔ Lead Time Reduction

This technology can accommodate parts up to 2 metres in size in all dimensions, with the ability to scale up for larger projects. Whether replacing or complementing traditional manufacturing methods such as forging, machining, casting or fabrication, WAAM is suitable for metal parts of low to medium complexity.

  • While WAAM produces near-net-shape parts, minimal machining may be required depending on part geometry. Typically, WAAM preforms require only 2mm to 3mm of machining stock, minimising material waste and machining costs.

It's important to note that WAAM parts exhibit a characteristic "waviness" in their as-deposited condition, attributed to the layer height of over 1mm. However, this appearance is superficial, with the actual depth of valleys usually around 0.5mm. CraftLabs ensures that despite the initial appearance, WAAM parts meet the highest quality standards and can be finished to the desired specifications through additional machining or treatments.

Partner with CraftLabs to harness the power of WAAM technology and unlock new possibilities in metal part manufacturing. Experience cost-effective, sustainable and efficient production processes tailored to your unique requirements.
